The rocky painting at Gành Lá Ngái | Travel to Quang Ngai
Bình Châu coastal commune (Bình Sơn, Quảng Ngãi) is not only famous for the scenic spot of Ba Làng An but also has Gành Lá Ngái, belonging to An Hải hamlet1. This coastal area is pristine, beautiful, and majestic like a masterpiece painted decorated with rocks lying on the edge of the sea…
Passing a distance of about 20km along the My Tra - My Khe route to Tinh Khe commune, we continue along National Highway 24B to Binh Chau market and turn left for a few kilometers to reach Binh Chau commune People’s Committee, then turn right. Bonbon on the straight asphalt road, both sides of the road are shaded by willow trees, making us forget the fatigue, stress, hustle, and bustle of the city. At the end of this road, we turn right into a small village road. Here, the countryside is very peaceful, the houses of the coastal residents are simple, but well-built, interspersed with corn fields, and pepper fields planted on red basalt soil. Anyone who comes here will feel like they are nestled in the vast Central Highlands. Looking out to the sea, a Gành Lá Ngái appears like a masterpiece painting, lying on the edge of the sea.
Gành Lá Ngái stretches for about 2 km2. The sound of waves hitting the black rocks creates a rustling sound that makes people’s hearts flutter. And it’s very strange! The beach at Gành Lá Ngái is not sandy but covered with layers of shiny black rocks. Many local people said that perhaps volcanic lava erupted and created this layer of black rocky beach. This is also an area within the scope of construction of the Ly Son - Binh Chau and adjacent areas of Global Geopark.
Walking along the beach under the wide canopy of trees, the vastness of the sea becomes clearer. The water is clear blue, and the cool air blows into people’s faces, making them feel ecstatic. The baskets with all colors on the sea gently sway with the wind. Standing on the shore, looking far away, Ly Son Island appears behind the misty mist of the sea, suddenly becoming more sparkling than ever.
There are nearly ten households living near Gành Lá Ngái. Mr. Nguyen Tron (83 years old) said: I have lived to this age, so I have witnessed Gành Lá Ngái change a lot3. But even if it rains heavily, the sea breeze does not destroy this place. Because people in Gành Lá Ngái live peacefully and close to nature4. The trees on the hill are protected by the people, in front of the houses there are also strong trees facing the sea that have been very old and the wave breakers are also paved by the people to protect people every rainy season. After the storm subsides, everything returns to normal. The sea is still gentle.
The households here live by farming and fishing near shore. Around early morning or noon, if we visit at the right time when fishermen’s boats come ashore, we will have plenty of choices to buy fresh seafood from the sea. With a wide beach, a small fire is lit up, and sitting around together grilling fish and shrimp and enjoying it is incomparable. The people here are also close and rustic. They will help and guide you wholeheartedly, making you feel like you are coming home and enjoying a warm family meal. Therefore, if Gành Lá Ngái is planned and invested properly, it will become an ideal tourist destination that is not inferior to Gành Yến or Ba Lang An./.
